Being a professor means being a public person or a public symbol.
Academic body is evaluated by the paper, the quality of the journal and citation numbers. An academic human's life is evaluated by his paper numbers and impact index.
But a researcher should never live for paper, that is just like saying human should never work for money. That is true but only he who really reach their this position could say so, like a model. One day you should become a researcher only consider signification and innovation. Now you see? Such a long way to go.
