研究室初対面 (Meet the fascinating SPL)

We have an old idiom in Chinese

There are people beyond the people, there is universe beyond the universe. (?)

It means, there are always people excellent than ours, just like the infinite universe. This is exactly what I was feeling when I join this lab's weekly meeting. Beside Doc Hata, Doc Junichi, we have protocols and two members from Canon and others like me summer intern students or long-term intern students. Three of them are just high school students, what am I doing when I was in high school?

First, their research was highly connected skilled and specific.

Second, they are mature than they looked.

Third, they are self-organized and motivated.

Spending time with them in the same room makes me feel young and the more time I spend with them, the more I realize I need to learn from them. First of all, they never afraid of asking question and discussion. They don't hide their emotions when feeling confused. When I have questions, I always feel uncomfortable to ask, I feel sorry to bother other people and afraid to ask twice.

The second thing is their modesty. Maybe they are all top class high school students in America but they never show like know-it-all kids. And their attitude to supervises and faculties is truly respect but not humble. Never stop learning from the youth.

The last thing which impressed me most is the weekly meeting. It is just like semi. Before the meeting, everybody updates their news on LabArchives( https://www.labarchives.com/) so it will be easy for the chairman to organize the order to report and everybody else can see the outcome of the report so that they can always grasp the main idea.

During the report, one can always interrupt and ask questions. I always think it is rude but actually I didn't feel embarrassing, it is was important to keep catching up during others presentation so make things clear as soon as feeling unsure is necessary, I will bring this habit back to my semi.
